THE Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday dismissed the alleged flyers being circulated by unknown people purporting that its spokesman Comrade Emma Powerful has been relieved of his duty.
IPOB in a statement to all its Coordinators, Units leaders and Rank and File worldwide titled “My direct address to all IPOB family-unity, discipline, truth and authority, signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary Emma Powerful, described the alleged removal from office as not only false, but a deliberate act of sabotage against the structure of IPOB itself.
The pro-Biafra group stated that only Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has the authority to appoint or remove any office holder in the group, saying that anybody or group doing that is engaging in a wild goose chase.
IPOB’s statement read, “I write this memorandum in my capacity as the Spokesperson of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) the voice entrusted by our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to communicate the position of this great movement to our people and to the world.
“Let it be clearly understood: I speak with the authority of the leader. I speak for IPOB. Any attempt by any individual or group to deny my existence, my role, or my authority is not only false, it is a deliberate act of sabotage against the structure of IPOB itself.”
Disclaiming what it described as the fraudulent flyer, IPOB said the flyer is false, fraudulent and of no consequence whatsoever.
IPOB’s statement read, “My attention has been drawn to a circulating flyer purporting to relieve me of my position as IPOB Spokesperson. Let me state categorically and without ambiguity, that the flyer is false, fraudulent, and of no consequence whatsoever.
“Under the IPOB Code of Conduct, which governs our structure and operations, only our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has the authority to appoint or relieve any individual of their duty within IPOB. No individual, no group, no committee, and no internal faction has such power.
I therefore, remain the Spokesperson of IPOB. No one has removed me. No one has the authority to remove me except our leader. All members are hereby directed to disregard that flyer in its entirety. It is a product of mischief, infiltration, and desperation.
“On the nature of IPOB authority, let us be very clear about who we are. IPOB is not a village union. IPOB is a disciplined freedom fighting movement. Our authority structure is not negotiable. The authority of every single individual within IPOB, including mine, flows directly from our leader.
These are what makes IPOB great. It is well structured, disciplined, resilient and and arguably the most formidable freedom fighting movement on earth. Any attempt to decentralize that authority or create parallel command structures is an attack on IPOB itself.”
On what is happening with its ranks, Powerful said, “I must speak plainly. Some individuals within our structure, people I have spoken with, worked with, and even announced their appointments to the world have suddenly turned around to say,Emma Powerful does not exist.
“This is not confusion. This is not misunderstanding. This is coordinated sabotage. We have the hand of enemy working against IPOB.
“The Nigerian government and its collaborators have tried everything. They tried to demonize Eastern Security Network,ESN, they failed. They sought international backing to legitimize the illegal proscription of IPOB, they failed. They abducted and detained our leader hoping to break us, they failed.
“Now they have changed strategy. They have moved inside. They are recruiting, influencing, and planting confusion within our ranks, using compromised individuals to create division, deny truth, and weaken our unity.
“Their weapon of falsehood and confusion is now at play. The current tactic is clear, and it is to deny identities, circulate fake directives, create unauthorized announcements, Introduce competing voices.
“Let me state this firmly, anyone who denies my role or circulates false authority within IPOB is acting against the movement. My position and commitment to IP
