The Sole Governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers State, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, has stated that Gubernatorial primaries of the party were peaceful and easier following the withdrawal of the other three aspirants from the race.
It would be recalled that the incumbent governor of the state, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Tonye Cole and Alabo Dakorinama George-Kelly had on the eve of the primaries withdrew from the contest.
However, Chinda stood as the sole aspirant for the governorship primaries of the APC.
Speaking after casting his vote at Ward 5, Elelenwo Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, commended leaders of the state for the confidence reposed on him to be the standard bearer of the party.
Chinda said: “Thank you for the way you have organised yourselves. By the grace of God I will assure you that we will do it according to law and when we lift, we will also serve you the fear of God.
“I will want to put it on record that the processes we are going through are democratic process that will produce a servant that will actually come to serve the people.
“I would like to say thank you to everybody and those who for personnel interest or the state decided to make the process easier and more peaceful. I am grateful to them.
“I also thank the leaders of the state that have found me worthy to fly the flag of the All Progressives Congress, I want to appreciate them.
“I am not the best in the state, but the assurance I will give is that I am going to serve the people with the fear of God and respect for the rule of law.”
